PERIPHERAL NEUROPATHY ACUPUNCTURE — SCOTTSDALE & PHOENIX, AZ

Peripheral neuropathy is one of the conditions where conventional medicine has the fewest long-term tools. Once the underlying cause is identified and managed — or when no cause is found at all — treatment often becomes symptom control indefinitely. For many patients that means living with numbness, burning, or pain that medications dull but don't resolve.

Acupuncture works directly with peripheral nerve pathways — improving circulation to damaged nerve tissue, calming sensitized pain signals, and supporting the conditions nerves need to function and recover. It works as a standalone approach or alongside your current medical management.

Not sure if this is right for your situation? Start with a free 15-minute phone call — we'll tell you honestly whether acupuncture makes sense for your case.

HOW ACUPUNCTURE APPROACHES PERIPHERAL NEUROPATHY

Neuropathy symptoms — burning, tingling, numbness — often persist because the nerves themselves aren't getting what they need to recover. Circulation to the extremities is frequently poor, nerve tissue stays irritated, and the pain signals keep firing long after the original damage occurred.

Acupuncture works by improving blood flow directly to the affected areas, calming the irritated nerve pathways, and giving the tissue the conditions it needs to settle. It's not a cure — but for many patients it meaningfully reduces symptoms that medications alone haven't resolved.

Results depend on how long you've had neuropathy and what caused it. We'll tell you honestly on your first visit what's realistic for your situation.

TYPES OF NEUROPATHY WE SEE MOST

Diabetic neuropathy

Numbness, tingling, or burning in the feet and legs related to diabetes — one of the most common presentations we work with

Chemotherapy-induced neuropathy

Nerve symptoms following chemotherapy that persist after treatment ends — many patients are surprised how much improvement is still possible

Idiopathic neuropathy

Neuropathy without a clearly identified cause — often labeled chronic after extensive workup comes back inconclusive

Autoimmune-related neuropathy

Nerve symptoms associated with autoimmune conditions where inflammation affects peripheral nerves

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can acupuncture help if my neuropathy has been present for years? Yes, though longer-standing neuropathy generally responds more gradually than recent onset. The degree of underlying nerve damage affects how much improvement is possible — we'll discuss this honestly on your first visit.

Is acupuncture appropriate for diabetic neuropathy specifically? Yes. Diabetic neuropathy is one of the most common conditions we treat. Improving circulation to the feet and lower legs is a central part of the approach and directly relevant to diabetic nerve symptoms.

What about chemotherapy-induced neuropathy? Many patients find that chemo-related neuropathy responds well to acupuncture, particularly when treatment begins while symptoms are still active rather than years later. If you're currently in treatment or recently finished, we can discuss timing on a free call.

Do I need a referral or diagnosis to get started? No. You can book directly. If you have existing records or test results, bring them to your first visit — they help us understand the full picture.

NOT SURE IF THIS APPLIES TO YOUR SITUATION?

Neuropathy looks different for everyone — the cause, where you feel it, and how long you've had it all affect whether acupuncture is likely to help. Start with a free 15-minute phone call and we'll give you a straight answer.
